I was not sure what to expect from this class on the first day. I was very eager to start taking pictures however I did not know how to use a camera properly whatsoever. I had never touched a camera with manual mode before. I thought that the class would be a easy way to get my technology credit and learn a new skill at the same time. This class proved to be more challenging than I anticipated but it was a lot of fun and I am proud of what I have learned to do.

For my last photo assignment, I was once again tasked with shooting a subject of my choice. I decided to shoot Still Life because I wanted to spice the composition of my photos and I thought that this would allow me to try something different. This assignment proved to be challenging because I only had a few good ideas for composition. I did my best to boost my creativity in my house as I would've preferred to shoot outside. These are a few pictures that showcase what I had to work with and I like how they turned out. I learned/experimented more with actually adding in PhotoShop features to my best picture and I think it added more to the story being told by the picture.
For this assignment I had to take pictures of a subject of my choice, so my subject of choice was all of the animals I have at my house. Cats are better are modeling for pictures because they don't move what so ever. My lazy dog also did pretty well but the hyper one only got one shot! I enjoyed this assignment because I got to spend a little extra time with the snugglers of the house. I focused on practicing my ability to quickly set up the manual mode of the camera to allow me to capture shots before they are gone. This is proving to still be a challenge as sometimes I hit the wrong buttons and can't get the perfect settings as quickly as needed but my skill is definitely improving and I am confident in using manual mode.
For this assignment we were to take from pictures that had already been acquired and choose which way we wanted to edit them. There was a list of tutorials with varying degrees of difficulty. I chose to do an easier one and then some hard ones. I liked this assignment because we got to chose how to edit our pictures. My favorite one to do was the disintegration edit. I did not think that I had the skill to pull it off but I am proud of how it turned out. I learned about the various brush/eraser features in photoshop when putting together the actual disintegration effect. I also learned how to add gradients to my pictures.
For this assignment I got to take pictures of my choice again. With the warmer months of Michigan finally coming, I chose to take pictures of nature. The blooming flowers of May prove to be the best subjects! I liked this assignment because it took me outside when I actually wanted to be there, Where I live I can't walk into my back yard and take the most gorgeous nature scenery pictures so I made due with what I got. I learned about patience as a photographer and waiting to get the desired shot. There were no bees out, however, I waited for a few flies to land on the purple flowers. This was worth it because it made for a shot that I am proud of.
For this assignment we had to take pictures and merge them using photoshop. There was a minimum of four figures in each of the pictures so I chose to do six and then five. Two of the figures are supposed to overlap in the picture as well. I really liked the editing portion of this assignment because it was cool to watch each figure get added at a time. Taking the pictures was not too hard as long as you remembered where you last stood and didn't budge the tripod any. Learning how to use the lasso tool will prove to be useful as I am sure I will use it again.
For this assignment, we had to take pictures of another subject of our choice. I chose to take the pictures I got for prom and add a classical touch of black and white. I think that dressing up for black and white pictures always looks nice. I liked this assignment because I was already taking pictures and it got to double over for my homework! I learned more about working with tripods to take pictures. They provide a nice even foundation to some amazing shots. I also learned more about playing with the saturation of the pictures in photoshop. I was unaware that you could change the prevalence of all the different hues after changing a picture to black and white.
For this assignment, I had to take a picture from the school and edit it following a demo we were shown in class. I took a picture of the American flag in the commons and gave it a personal, spunky touch with Scooby-Doo. In this assignment I learned how to use the magic wand tool. I also experimented more with the quick select tool. I liked using these tools to add the goofy edits of Scoob and the Gang.
For this assignment, I had to take pictures of another alternative subject. My subject of choice ended up being my favorite sport: Track and Field! For photo three I chose to do an Event, so these are pictures from the Golden Triangle track meet. Iso 800 F 5.6 Shutter 1/1000 In this assignment, I focused on shooting action shots and creating a motion blur. I also experimented with manual shooting, it took some getting-used-to, but I eventually got the hang of it (I also got some tips from some of the veterans there).
For this assignment I had to retouch a photo and eliminate the background. Then I was tasked with creating my own edit of the car. In this assignment I learned how to use the quick select tool to keep parts of an image from being edited or vice versa. I also learned how to use clone stamp. I believe this tool will be useful because I will be able to get rid of unwanted smudges in the picture.
